Cooma Man wins South East Squash Title

Cooma’s Corey Bedingfield is the South-East region squash champion after taking out the title in Bega on November 1.
Bedingfield defeated Troy Northie in the final, a player he had previously never beaten. Bedingfield was surprised by the result.
“I was stoked, I was happy to get a game off him to be honest,” he said
Down 2 games to nil, Bedingfield clawed his way back. Even after taking the third game to make the score 1-2 the Cooma squash player expected his run to end there.
“I thought I was no chance, I was quite shocked, so I’m very happy with that,” he said.
Bedingfield played four matches to win the competition and said it was an enjoyable event.
“It was good, it was fun playing some top players,” he said.
The Cooma squash player usually plays twice a week and has been playing for 16 years. He said it is a great game for all seasons.
“You can play it anytime of the year, it is great for fitness and is fun,” he said.
Bedingfield used to play in regular competitions in Canberra and said time prevents him from playing more regularly. He credits his dad for teaching him the tricks of the trade.
“He was always there giving me tips about the game,” he said.
Bedingfield said he is passionate about seeing the next generation of kids come through the ranks.
“I like to help kids out who want to play the game,” he said.
